Minton Porcelain Coffee Can & Saucer Trio Crazy Cow Pattern 106 c.1805

SOLD

Code: FA0916

A delightful Minton coffee can trio decorated in the fabulous pattern number 106 known usually as the Crazy Cow pattern but also sometimes as the Bengal Tiger, c.1800-1805. Bright iron red, deep green and royal blue enamels in a very busy foliate pattern with the stylised cow (or tiger) in the centre of the saucer and plate. All pieces marked with the pattern number in blue.

Reference "Minton Pottery & Porcelain Of The First Period" by Godden, page 37 and plate 29.

The plate measures 16.2cm (6 3/8") wide and 1.5cm (5/8") high. The saucer measures 14cm (5") wide and 3cm (1 1/8") high. The coffee can measures  6.3cm (2 15/16") high, 6.5cm (2") rim to rim and 8.5cm (3 3/8") rim to handle.

Condition is very good with no damage or repair. There is a hairline in the glaze under the base of the plate and some firing faults in the glaze in the same area. Surface wear is very light in the main; the enamels are all quite raised and can easily suffer from handling wear but the only main points to note are 2 small paint losses to the blue ring in the centre of the plate and a bit of wear to the rim of the can.
