Stunning first period Worcester tea cup and saucer in the two quail pattern, c.1760. Both cup and saucer have a concave fluted shape and are painted in bright enamels in the kakiemon palette with a very pretty pale turquoise border. The pieces are unmarked.
The cup measures 1 7/8" high, 3 3/8" rim to rim and 4 1/4" rim to handle. The saucer is 5 3/8" wide and 1 1/8" high.
Condition is very good; there is a 3mm hairline to the rim of the cup and 2 tiny (1mm) nicks to the glaze on the underside of the rim of the saucer. Surface wear is light and appropriate for age and use.
