Georgian Cased 5 Piece Silver Gilt Berry Set Incl. Hester Bateman

Cased set of 4 silver berry spoons with sugar sifter. They are matched but all the pieces are identical so an original/early matching. 3 of the berry spoons are by Hester Bateman dated 1784, the other by George Smith III dated 1783 and the sifter spoon is by Thoma Wallis III dated 1796. Classic crimped rims and embossed fruit decoration to the bowls that are all nicely gilded and very fine and ornate bright cut engraving to the handles front and back. Each has a vacant cartouche. The silk and velvet lined, leather case has retailer mark Mallet Bath printed on the silk in gold.

The berry spoons measure 8 5/8" long and 1 11/16" wide. The sifter measures 7 1/2" long, 2 1/2" wide and 1" deep. Total silver weight is 314g/10.1ozt.

Condition is excellent with no damage and very light surface wear. The gilding is good and fresh and the case also is in very good order, just some light surface marks.
