Very pretty Victorian silver tea canister of square form with ornate embossed and bright cut engraved decoration of scrolls and arabesques with green man style masks. Each side has a vacant cartouche. Plain shoulders rise to a pull off lid with matching organic decoration around the bottom half, stepping out to a melon fluted cap with delicate and finely engraved knop as a wild strawberry.
Hallmarked for London 1894 and maker's marks to base, side and lid for renowned silversmith William Comyns.
It measures 4 3/4" high and 2" wide and weighs 143g/5.0ozt.
Condition is excellent with no damage or dents and light and appropriate surface wear for age and use.
