Unusual Edwardian silver cayenne pepper spoon with finial of The Trusty Servant after the painting hanging in Winchester College by John Hoskins depicting a mythical creature known as a hircocervus demonstrating the virtues expected of the college pupils. Very nicely cast with fine detail on a circular base.
The spoon and stopper part is gilded and hallmarked for Chester 1909 and maker Frederick James Ross who was based in Winchester.
It measures 3 1/2" high and 7/8" by 3/4" wide. It weighs a substantial 19g/0.6ozt.
Condition is very good with no damage and just light surface wear appropriate for age and use.
