George II Silver Baluster Cream Jug David Hennell I

SOLD

Code: FA0494

Pretty George II silver baluster cream jug set on 3 cast cabriole legs with hoofed feet. Shaped rim and scroll handle with cast feather thumb rest. The body later embossed with flowers and foliage with bright cut engraved detail, used to create a central vacant reserve to the front for engraving with initials.

Hallmarked underneath for London 1759 and maker David Hennell I. Initials M. T. M. also engraved underneath.

It measures 11cm (4 1/4") high, 9cm (3 1/2") handle to rim and 6cm (1/2") across the body. It weighs 95g/3.0ozt.

Condition is very good; there is a slight distortion to one leg and a very small and shallow tear at the back of it but the silver is very thick gauge and presents no practical or aesthetic concerns. Light surface wear, very good for age and the hallmarks are nice and clear, just a slight rubbing at the edge in a few places.
