Derby Porcelain Coffee Can Dresden Handle C.1820

SOLD

Code: FA0732

Very pretty early 19th century Derby porcelain coffee can, straight sided with a Dresden shape handle. A richly decorated frieze of swirling leaves, vines and flowers in pale pink, deep purple and gilt runs around the upper half with a a gilded band of egg and dart style rounded Vs with alternating droplets just below and further replicated inside the rim. Additional gilded acanthus leaf detail up the handle and bands around the foot and at the rim.

Red crossed swords mark. c.1820.

It measures 6.5cm (2 1/2") high, 6.7cm (2 5/8") rim to rim and 9cm (3 1/2") rim to handle.

Condition is very good with no damage or restoration. The surface of the porcelain is finely crazed and there are a couple of very small spots of discolouration and a little inside the base. One or 2 other small surface marks to the lower half but surface wear in the main is light, very little to the enamelling and gilding, just a little rubbing along the top of the rim.
