Early Staffordshire Pearlware Tithe Tythe Pig Figure Group c.1820

SOLD

Code: FA0840

Dimensions:

W: 13cm (5.1")H: 16.7cm (6.6")D: 7.8cm (3.1")

A nice early 19th century staffordshire bocage group of the "tithe pig" group, c.1820 Nicely detailed naturalistic base with sheafs of wheat, piglets and basket of eggs and nice modelling of the figures.

It measures 16.7cm (5 5/8") high, 13cm (5 1/8") wide and 7.8cm (3") deep.

Condition is very good but with some high quality professional repairs: the bocage has been exceptionally well restored to the front with the leaves having been formed from moulds taken from the originals and expertly decorated to match. There are some small losses viewable at the back still but this is of minor aesthetic issue. The farmer has had an invisible repair to his right arm and the tip of the farmer's wife's bonnet has been restored also. The handle of the basket of eggs is missing and there is a small glaze loss to the vicar's right hand. Colours are vibrant and no enamel losses.
