Attractive Worcester tea bowl and saucer with 24 vertical flutes decorated in black enamel and gilding with a husk and paterae pattern of floral roundels in draping swags with gilt scrolled borders, c.1780
This pattern is in the Giles style and is illustrated in 'In search of James Giles' by Coke plates 64 a) and b) and 'Caughley & Worcester Porcelains' by Godden plate 82.
The tea bowl measures 5.3cm (2 1/8") high and 8.5cm (3 3/8" wide) and the saucer measures 3.2cm (1 1/4") high and 14cm (5 1/2") wide.
Condition is good but with a small slither chip to the foot of the tea bowl. No other damage or restoration. There is a bit of wear to the gilding in the centre of the saucer and a few points on the gilded bands inside the tea bowl rim, the high points of the rim and the band around the foot. The enamel has little wear.
