Large Redecorated First Period Worcester Green Junket Bowl

Fabulous large redecorated first period Worcester fluted junket bowl with a scalloped rim and shaped apple green border around the edge inside and out edged with finely detailed and varied gilded scrolls. A further shaped green border sits in the centre framing a reserve beautifully painted in bright enamels with "fancy birds" against an oriental landscape. The white ground mid section is scattered with lovely smaller fancy birds in flight and with little flocks in the distance. 

Provenance: the Alice Cooney Collection with detailed sticker to the reverse. Porcelain dating from c.1770.

It measures 10 1/4" (26cm) wide and 2 5/8" (6cm) high. 

Condition is very good but a couple of points to note: the green border outside the bowl has been over-painted quite extensively in a deeper green suggesting initially possible restoration but I cannot detect any faults with the porcelain inside the bowl so it is probably to address some aesthetic issues with the original redecoration on the outside. There is a small loss of some of this over-painting showing the earlier green ground underneath. There is a scratch near the bottom of the bowl. Evidence of re-firing to the footrim. Gilding and enamels are nice and bright.
