Pretty and unusual George III silver vinaigrette in the form of a purse or satchel bag. Finely cast with pretty engraved detail on all sides it opens to reveal a gilt interior with pierced and engraved grille with flowers and vine decoration.
Hallmarked for Joseph Willmore to lid, base and grille with lion passant and George III head but no date but c.1817. It has an engraved cartouche on one side "WB to CW".
It measures 2.8cm (1 1/16") wide by 2cm (3/4") and 0.7cm (1/4") high. It weighs 11g/0.4ozt.
Condition is very good with minimal surface wear.
