Lovely large William IV silver vinaigrette by Nathaniel Mills. Pretty cross-hatched tartan style engraving on all external walls and a cast thumb lip with flowers and leaves. Richly gilded inside with a very ornate pierced grill with flowers and scrolling vines with finely engraved detail. A small cartouche on the lid engraved with the initials MC.
Hallmarked for Birmingham 1837, maker Nathaniel Mills.
It measures 4cm by 3cm wide and 1cm deep, and weighs 28g/0.9ozt.
Condition is excellent with no damage or dents. Surface wear is very light; a little rubbing at the very edges of the box but the engraving is nice and crisp on all sides. There is a tiny pinprick mark on the reverse. The gilding is nice and bright and the hallmarks are clear.
