A fabulous Royal Crown Derby bone china porcelain dessert plate, of lobed shape with moulded acorns and oak leaves around the rim. A stunning imari type design with a circular central reserve, hand painted with a garden scene of stylised rocks (in blue enamel and underglaze blue), gilt and red enamel fence, and exotic plants and trees in red and green enamel, underglaze blue and rich gilding.
This specific scene has been replicated from teawares of the Regency period, appearing on Charles Bourne pieces as pattern number 233, and also cups and saucers we have believed to be Ridgway. Surrounding the central scene, are six panels of two alternating patterns; a deep mazarine blue ground reserving two mons, decorated in iron red, and stylised gilt feathery fronds and stars. The other panels are a close up view of the garden, with a rock to one side and a busy arrangement of flowers and leaves. Spiky daisy type flowers sit across the borders of each panel and everything is joined by gilt frames and rims.
Factory mark to the base with date cypher for 1923 and hand painted pattern number 8704 over 3.
It measures 23cm (9") wide.
In immaculate condition with no damage, repair or restoration and no discernible handling wear.
