Regency Coalport Porcelain Sugar Box / Sucrier c.1815 Pattern 147

Code: FA1582

RESERVED

An attractive Coalport porcelain sugar box and cover of bombe shape with fluted side handles and domed cover with shaped oblong knop. Decorated with a mazarine blue ground with lemon yellow borders both decorated with gilt friezes and small angled oval reserves set into the blue painted with vibrant garden flowers. The white reserved rim is also decorated with bright enamelled flowers and gilding and the usual gilt embellishment to the knop, handles and rims. Painted pattern number 147 to the base. c.1812-1815.

It measures 17.8cm (7") by 11.5cm (4 1/2") wide and 11.5cm (4 1/2") high.

Condition: The set displays beautifully and the whole piece can be safely used with appropriate care as always but there are a couple of minor points to note:
The cover has a small chip inside the inner flange and a star crack hairline across it. The basin has two short glaze lines extending down the inwardly curved section of the wall; these are standalone, not coming from the rim and just linked to the nature of the shape. No restoration and minimal handling wear. During manufacture, there was some light bleeding of the blue to the lower part of one side, minimally noticeable on the side itself but visible on the underside.
