SOLD

A Bloor Derby porcelain lozenge shaped dessert serving dish with fluted walls and shaped rim, ornately decorated with gilt on a white grounds with large central reserve finely painted most likely by George Robertson with a landscape view of a mother and child walking in a European landscape with ruined church, woods and mountains in the background. Red painted mark to the base and "In Italy" in script. c.1815.

It measures 18.3cm (11 1/8") wide by 21.5cm (8 3/8") and 5.5cm (2 1/8") high.

In reasonable condition: there is a hairline to the rim with a small surface slither chip part way down. Some craze/glaze lines front and back here and there, including a small collection to the left most tip having become a bit discoloured. A small chip to the reverse lower tip. Some surface wear to the gilding, mainly to the left edge and some rubbing to the enamel scene around the edges associated mainly with the high points of the fluting. The main focus of the scene is fine and it is still a pretty dish for use or display.
