Pretty and unusual late Victorian silver sugar box after an 18th century German style. Lovely, rounded fluted shaped body and lid, and set on 4 ornate cast scrolled feet with foliate terminals.
Hallmarked for Sheffield 1899, maker James Dixon & Sons with marks to the side of the body, lid, knop, knop collar and nut.
It measures 5" (13cm) wide, 3 3/4" (9.5cm) deep and 5" (13cm) high and weighs 344g/11.1zt.
Condition is very good but with a small area of repair to one of the creases between the flutes on the wall. Light surface wear appropriate for age. Lovely and clean inside.
