Very pretty unusual Indonesian (Java) solid silver (800) round lidded pot, probably a tea caddy or tobacco jar but perfect as a dressing table trinket box. Stunning repousse decoration in 3 matching panels around the walls of 2 peacocks back to back, with fanned tail surrounded by flowers and foliage and a beaded border and finely chased detailing. A matching pattern is also to the lid.
Marked 800 over AST to the planished base for Yogya silver and dates from the 1920s-1930s.
It measures just over 3" high and 3 1/4" wide. It weighs 247g/7.94ozt.
Condition is excellent. Super piece, pretty and practical and very unusual.
