An unusual Staffordshire pottery pearlware spill vase by John Walton, c.1820. Formed as a castle turret set on a large grassy mound with a river running underneath through the mound and a small rowing boat floating on the water. Decorated in the round with shredded clay vegetation. The "Walton" banner mark is to the reverse.

It measures 14cm (5 1/2") high, 11.5cm (4 1/2") wide and 9cm (3 1/2") deep.

Condition is very good with no damage or restoration bar a small scrape to the glaze at the start of the banner and a few light losses to the shredded clay.
