Pair Victorian Staffordshire Spaniels Dogs No. 4 Black & White C.1860

Code: FA0837

SOLD

Sweet true pair of Staffordshire King Charles Spaniels with thick wavy coats and decorated with reciprocating black patches on white with yellow eyes and pale pink muzzle. Traces of gilt to the collars.

Both marked with the size 4 moulded to the base. Vent holes to the back. c.1860.

They measure 19cm (7 1/2") high, 14cm (5 1/2") long and 7.5cm (3") deep.

Condition is very good with no damage or restoration but both have some shrinkage cracks, the left facing dog, it runs down the back to the tail and the right facing one, part way down the chest. There are further general craze/crack lines in the glaze, a few more obvious to the reverse of the right facing dog. Very little wear to the enamel, just a little to the noses, and rubbing to the gilt on the collars.
