Charming large Staffordshire flat back spill vase as a russet and white cow and her suckling calf. Set on a tall shaped base, naturalistically painted with grassy tussocks and with a little stream running to one side. The spill holder is decorated as a tree trunk. A gilded band around the base and her horns are also gilded. The rear is undecorated.
It measures 11 1/4" high and 8" by 4 3/4" wide.
Condition is very good with no damage or restoration; there are a couple of small paint flake losses, some fading of the russet inside the spill holder rim and some wear to the gilding.
