SOLD

A fine Derby figure of a boy representing America  from the series The Four Quarters Of The Globe. He stands barefoot on a naturalistic base with his foot resting on his companion crocodile. Wearing a scantily draped tunic and feathered headdress and with a quiver of arrows over his shoulder from which he is reaching back to pluck an arrow. He would originally have held a bow in his left hand. Patch marks to the base, c.1770 and incised with the model number "N200" and initial G.

Reference: Derby Porcelain Figures, Bradshaw, entry number 200, plate 249.

He measures 15cm (5 7/8") high and 7cm (2 3/4") by 6.3cm (2 1/2") wide and deep.

In very good condition: there has been some very good professional restoration to the feathers at the front of the headdress (these have been applied over the original chipped feathers to conserve those original parts). The bow has been lost but the hand is unaffected. No other damage or restoration and only minor handling wear.
