A sweet and rare porcelain toy tea kettle decorated in the Coalbrookdale style with applied flowers and leaves and a spotted woodpecker and canary nestled in amongst the vines. The twig style handle and spout are decorated with a mottled green and brown effect and the white ground has scattered gilt detailing and rims. The cover has matching gilt decoration and the knop is formed as a pink rose. Unmarked, Spode, c.1825.
It measures 5cm (2") high, 7.3cm (2 7/8") long and 6.1cm (2 3/8") wide.
In excellent condition: there is some invisible restoration to the very tip of the spout and a few usual minor chips to some of the petals. The birds are fine bar a nick to the tip of the canary's beak and no other damage, repair or restoration.
