First Period Worcester Porcelain Cup & Saucer Trio c.1785

Code: FA1422

RESERVED

An elegant Worcester porcelain trio of coffee cup with grooved handle, tea bowl and saucer with stylised flowers with under-glaze blue petals and ornate gilt stems, leaves and flower ornamentation. Gilt detail to the cup handle and finished with gilt dentil borders inside the rims and around the foot of the cup and bowl and in the centre of the saucer. Unmarked, c.1785.

Provenance: The Bayard Collection.

The cup measures 6.3cm (2 1/2") high and 5.9cm (2 5/16") rim to rim, the tea bowl 4.8cm (1 7/8") high and 7.7cm (3") wide. The saucer measures 2.6cm (1") high and 12cm (4 3/4") wide.

In excellent condition: one small chip to the foot rim of the tea bowl and a couple of minor under-glaze manufacturing faults: a few frits inside the foot rim of the cup and a nick to the saucer rim. No damage, repair or restoration. Minor handling wear, just very slight rubbing to the gilt on the rims and in the centre of the saucer from stacking.
