H & R Daniel Porcelain Second Gadroon Tea Cup & Saucer Pattern 4058 c.

Code: FA1323

SOLD

A pretty Henry and Richard Daniel tea cup and saucer in the "second gadroon" shape very finely decorated in pattern 4058 with broad underglaze mazarine blue shaped borders reserving white centres and scalloped edged regions coloured in lemon yellow enamel. Delicate cross-hatched gilt decoration and ornate scrolls, floral sprigs, fleur de lys type images and dots embellish the coloured ground and outside the cup. Feathered gilt rims and handle edge, finishing with an acanthus leaf on the thumb rest. Well painted garden flowers in bright enamels decorate the centre of each piece. Unmarked, c.1825.

The cup measures 4.7cm (1 7/8") high the rim and 10cm (3 15/16") rim to rim. The saucer measures 14.5cm (5 3/42) wide and 2cm (3/4") high.

In very good condition with no damage, repair or restoration. The saucer has some wear to the gilding, mainly at the rim and a small amount of loss to the enamel flowers in the centre. Minimal handling wear to the cup. The glaze is very finely crazed as is often for this manufacturer and shape and two tiny spots of discolouration to the cup as a result.
