Nice Liverpool sauce boat attributed to John & Jane Pennington, c.1770-1790. Decorated in the Large Exotic Bird pattern on one side, and a house, fence and garden on the other, with barley ear border set against a moulded pattern of vertical panelling with floral and scroll design.
These patterns are known combined on John Pennington pieces and the shape is also documented as such, see figure 336 of Liverpool Porcelain by Bernard Watney for a very similar example.
It measures 17.5cm (6 7/8") long, 9.5cm (3 3/4") wide and 11.8cm (4 5/8") high.
Condition is very good, there is a tiny chip under the foot and a small firing line within the foot rim. No other damage or restoration. Surface wear is very light. The printed images have run a bit in places.
