SOLD

Lovely pair of large Georgian table salts by Joseph Angell I. Rectangular, open shape with ornate cast rims with gadrooned sides and foliage draped at the corners, each set with a scallop shell. Plain body with round belly and set of 4 fabulously detailed lion paw feet with toes and claws, and curly fur to the undersides. Finished with acanthus leaf terminals. The bowls retain their original gilding. Each hallmarked for London 1816. Super quality, attractive and unusual set.

They measure 1 ¾” high, 3 ¾” long and 3” wide. They are a very good gauge weighing in total 270g/8.7ozt.

Condition is excellent with no damage or dents. A little rubbing to the hallmarks but otherwise very light surface wear, good and appropriate for age and use and the gilding is also in very good order.
