Matched Pair Georgian Silver Trencher Salts

Matched Pair Georgian Silver Trencher Salts

Code: FA0316

SOLD

Very nice matched pair of mid 18th century silver trencher salts of typical form with concave stepped sides and octagonal base. Nicely gilded inside.

One is hallmarked for London 1766 and maker likely to be Henry Corry and the other for London 1759 with maker IW which is documented but unidentified (unregistered). They are of identical form and size so make a perfectly good set.

The measure 8cm (3 1/8") long by 6.5cm (2 1/2") and 3.5cm (1 3/8"( high. They weigh 189g/6.1ozt.

Condition is very good with only light surface wear and the gilding is also still very good.
