Unusual novelty Victorian silver pepper pot in the form of a knight's head in suit of armour. The visor hinges open to reveal the gilded interior to refill. Lovely detail of engraved patterning and cast detail of metal plates and studs.
Hallmarked to the base, side and visor for Birmingham 1875 and marks for renowned maker George Unite. There is a small rampant lion crest to the base on one side.
It measures 6cm (2 1/4") high and 5cm (2") across the base. It weighs 68g/2.2ozt.
Condition is very good with no damage and light surface wear, appropriate for age and use. The gilding is also still very good.
