Large Victorian Royal Worcester Vase Blue Ground Asiatic Pheasants

Code: EA0916

SOLD

Superb large baluster vase by Royal Worcester, set with a cobalt blue ground and moulded frame in white which separates two main panels, one with a simple gilded spray of flowers over the blue ground and the other with a very finely painted scene of asiatic style pheasants. In between, within the 'frame' are panels of raised lattice, feathery fronds and scrolls and a turquoise ground cabochon. All smothered with varied, fine and ornate gilding. Further turquoise cabochons are set towards the lower part of the vase above a skirt at the top of the pedestal also in turquoise. A moulded gilded band runs around the foot with overpainted gilt pattern. Ribbed detail to the shoulders and fluting to the neck. The rim is gilded but would originally have had a small cover.

Marked to the base in puce, registered design number 259274, shape number 1817 and dated for 1897.

It measures 11 1/2" high and 5 1/2" wide.

Condition is excellent with no damage and minimal surface wear to painting or gilding.
