A very nice early 19th century bone china dessert plate by Job Ridgway of the Cauldon Place China Works, c.1808-1810. A shaped edge with loop moulded sprigging. Finely hand painted with a central topographical scene of a man in a country landscape chopping wood with his jacket set to one side and a pretty cottage on a bank above with mountains in the background. A rich mazarine blue ground around the edge reserving the moulded sprigging and daisy flowers shapes filled with pale lemon enamel and gilded flowers. Gilt dots and crescents also richly decorate the blue ground and fine gilt leaves scattered around the shaped white central reserve framing the main scene. Marked with pattern number 941 in red script.

It measures 21.5cm (8 1/2") wide and just over 2.5cm (1") high.

Condition is very good with no damage or restoration and light surface wear including some gilt wear mainly to the rim and 2 tiny losses to the enamel in the central scene.
