Pair Of Creamware Botanical Plates c.1800-1810

Di: 20.3cm (8")

SOLD

A nice pair of creamware plates painted with botanical specimens, Giant Jonquil and Yellow Day-Lily, taken from the 18th century engravings by William Curtis. Edged with a double brown enamel band. Specimen names on the reverse painted in red script.

They measure 20.3cm (8") wide and 2cm (3/4") high.

In good condition: the Giant Jonquil has a short firing hairline hairline running parallel with the curve of the well to the right of the stem and this has been colour touched in on the reverse. The Yellow Day Lily has some very good quality restoration at the rim; this is not extensive, not coming any further than the brown line, just some very small chips or fridges have been filled I imagine. Very minor handling wear to the Jonquil, and a few nicks to the enamel on the Lily and a bit of wear to the rim line.
