Fabulous huge Staffordshire or Rockingham twin-handled loving cup in a treacle glaze with 2 surprise frogs in the bottom. Raised sprig decoration around the rim and a hunting dog on either side and nicely shaped handles. Dates from c.1845.
It measures 6 3/4" high, 6 3/4" wide rim to rim and 11 3/4" handle to handle.
Condition is very good; there is no body damage, but a hind lower leg of the darker frog is missing; it is tucked underneath so not easy to see and just a small glaze chip on the inside of the rim and 2 more underneath.
Surface condition is good but there are expected signs of age.
