Austrian / French Kiln Fired Green Enamel Coin Purse c.1870

Code: FA1559

SOLD

A fine quality mid 19th century French or Viennese Coin Purse with a dark green kiln fired enamel resulting in a smooth high shine glassy finish. Delicate chased foil detailing baked under the surface of the enamel in silver, green and gold with a variety of scrolling, flowering vines and an ivy type plant in the centre of one side with small opalescent beads or stones. Push button clasp opens to reveal red silk interior with three compartments and edged in red leather. c.1850-1870.

It measures 7.6cm (3") wide by 6.3cm (2 1/"2) high and 1.2cm (1/2") deep.

In very good condition: only very minor wear to the enamel in the main, just a few light scratch lines but a short 0.5cm crack and minor loss near the bottom edge of the reverse side and minimally noticeable. The catch works well and closely crisply. The silk is paper thin and in very good condition for age, just some very minor tears to a few of the creases and some light marks.
