Pretty late Victorian silver spectacle case with chain and chatelaine clip. Very ornate design, cast with ope sections to show the purple velvet beneath. The upper cover is decorated with a peacock and cherubs in amongst exotic flower vines. There is a bead framed cartouche, vacant for personalisation. The clip has matching decoration.
Both pieces are hallmarked for Birmingham 1897, maker George Unite.
It measures 9" extended, the case itself 5 7/8" long and 1 3/8" wide. The clip is 2 3/4" long and 1 3/8" wide also. It weighs in total 71g/2.3ozt.
Condition is very good with no damage or dents to the silver. The velvet also is in very good order, just rucked up slightly inside and a little wear to the edge near the opening.
