Beautiful antique French silver and mother of pearl tussie mussie/posy holder. The handle is very finely pierced and carved with a feather effect at the terminal. The silver is finely formed with a combination of repousse leaves and very fine filigree leaves and teardrops. There is a circular ring inside the top to hold the shape and this also has bright cut engraving at all the points that it can be seen on the outside. The silver band holding the mother of pearl is also nicely engraved. It has a fine round box chain with finger ring, cast with leaves and flowers.

It is unmarked as is usual and dates from c.1860. It has been tested as silver.

It measures 16cm long and 3.5cm wide across the cup.

Condition is very good; there us a small section of repair to the lower part of the silver on one section where it joins the silver band and I think the band has been rejoined to the mother of pearl at some point also. Otherwise, no damage to the silver or mother of pearl and light surface wear, very good and appropriate for age.
