Code: FA1557
A pretty late Victorian silver plated basket with attractive pierced decoration in various friezes up the flared body and finishing with a shaped pierced rim. Set on four hoof shaped feet with scallop shell terminal and with a heavy rope twist swing handle. Fitted with a cranberry glass liner with a pretty vignette of flowers and leaves etched into the base. Unmarked, c.1890-1900.
It measures 8.5cm (3 3/8") high to the rim (15cm (5 7/8") with the handle raised) and 13.3cm (5 1/4") wide.
In very good condition with no damage or repair to the pierced decoration or to the glass. Some minor plate wear in a few places mainly to the edges of the detail around the middle section and minor wear to the glass just where it sits against the frame.
A very nice, practical and very pretty piece with a myriad of uses.
