1930s Novelty Silver Beer Tankard Mustard Pot Richard Comyns

1930s Novelty Silver Beer Tankard Mustard Pot Richard Comyns

Code: FA0706

SOLD

Sweet and unusual silver mustard pot in the form of a Georgian domed lidded beer tankard with stepped, reeded foot and rim, double scrolled handle and pierced detail thumb tab. Fitted with the original blue glass liner.

Hallmarked for London 1933, maker Richard Comyns (William Comyns & Sons Ltd.). A nice novelty piece for collection or use.

It measures 6.5cm (2 1/2") high, 5cm (2") across the base and 7cm (2 3/4") front to back. It weighs 95g in total, silver weight 59g/1.9ozt.

Condition is good; there has been a minor repair to the bottom of the hinge where it joins the handle and there is a very small chip to the rim of the liner that has been filed smooth so it is fine to use practically and minimally noticeable when in situ. Minor surface wear appropriate for age, the maker's mark is partially rubbed but the others are fine.
