SOLD

Very pretty Victorian Christening mug with repousse decoration of a young boy running with a book and hoop toy on one side and sitting with his dog on the other. Nicely detailed background details and gilt washed inside. Set on scrolled feet with arabesques around the base and pretty scrolled handle. The cartouche, framed with flowers is engraved "Joan Mary Russell from her godfather".

Hallmarked for London 1852, maker John Evans.

It measures 3 7/8" high and 4" rim to handle, and weighs 142g/4.57ozt.

Condition is very good: a little rubbing over the years shows on some of the finer raised detail and marks a bit rubbed.
