Sweet little George III silver beer mug of classical baluster form with stepped foot and double scroll handle with feather cap thumbrest. It could be used as a Christening mug but contains a 1/3 pint so was probably a drinking cup still rather a child's originally. It is lovely to find these pieces unadorned with Victorian embossing.
Hallmarked for London 1780 and maker Mark Warne.
It measures 3 5/8" high, 2 1/2" across the belly and 3 5/8" from rim to handle. It weighs 150g/4.8ozt.
Condition is very good with no damage and very light surface wear for age and use but maker's mark is rubbed. The seam between cup and foot is a little messy in places which I mention for completeness.
