A fabulous large Victorian silver easel back dressing table mirror with a heart shaped glass aperture. Ornate pierced and embossed decoration all over including many mythical creatures; a pair of caryatids, three green man faces, angels, putti and stylised dolphin type sea creatures, all set against a background of flowering vines, scrolls and arabesques. A central engraved cartouche sits at the top of the frame. Hallmarked for London 1889, maker William Comyns & Sons.
It measures 43.2cm (17") high by 37cm (14 1/2") wide across the plane, actually standing 40.5cm (16") high.
In very good condition with no losses, damage or repairs and minor handling wear. It has been re-mounted from it's original back onto a blue velvet stand and one of the small nuts on the back of this has been lost but it is all completely secure.
