Very pretty and unusual miniature silver trinket box in the form of a bureau with embossed and engraved decoration of putti and cherubs froliking outside, on a see-saw and with lambs and birds. Further decoration of scrolls, arabesques and garlands wrap around the scenes. The bureau front opens to reveal a compartment and to top half also hinges open to reveal a second. Set on cabriole legs with hoof feet and with ram's heads at the terminals.
Hanau silver marks and import marks for Samuel Boyce Landeck, Sheffield 1911. The front and inside are also hallmarked.
It measures 2 3/4" high, 2 3/4" wide and 1 5/8" deep. It weighs 102g/3.3 ozt.
Condition is excellent with no damage or dents; there is a slight twist to one of the legs but I think this is original; it stands fine. A little surface wear from age and use.
