Unusual pair of Edwardian silver place card holders of The Trusty Servant after the painting hanging in Winchester College by John Hoskins depicting a mythical creature known as a hircocervus demonstrating the virtues expected of the college pupils. Very nicely cast with fine detail on a circular base.
Hallmarked for Chester 1907 and maker Frederick James Ross who was based in Winchester.
They measure 1 5/16" wide across the base and 1 1/8" high. They weigh 46g/1.5ozt in total.
Condition is very good with no damage and just light surface wear appropriate for age and use.
