Absolutely gorgeous large late 19th century French majolica asparagus cradle serving dish by Creil & Montereau. Beautifully modelled with a large twin-handled tray base with textured leaves painted in green, aqua and brown, and a raised curved cradle of moulded cream asparagus spears painted in blue-lilac and orange brown. Super piece for "the season" but also so pretty, it could easily be used as a fruit bowl, for magazines or post or displaying flowers the rest of the time.
The piece is unmarked as far as I can tell but a well documented model by Creil & Montereau.
It measures 15" long, 12" wide and 4" high.
Condition is excellent.
