Very stylish “pre-deco" silver capstan inkwell of hexagonal form with lipped pen rest to the front of the base. The base is hexagonal in shape and rises up in a concave curve to a hexagonal frame around the well and hinged lid. It is fitted with a clear glass liner.
Hallmarked to the base and inside the lid for Sheffield 1919, makers Walker & Hall.
It measures 15.5cm (6 1/8") across the diagonal of the base and 13.5cm (5 3/8") side to side and 6.5cm (2 1/2") high. It is clearly weighted but weighs a hefty 633g so perfect for doubling as a paperweight.
Condition is excellent with no damage or dents. The hallmarks on the base are a little rubbed but legible; surface wear otherwise is very light.
