Very stylish early 20th century silver double inkstand of octagonal form with very fine ornate pierced border of stylised flowers and foliage. Framed with a beaded rim and set on 4 ball feet. The square glass wells with rounded edges sit in frames within the stand and are mounted in silver with matching beaded border. A pair of pen rests sit at the front styled as branches. A nice mix of art nouveau details blending with the new art deco shapes and form.
Hallmarked to the stand, well holders, well mounts and lids for Walter Hayes Rabone and Frank Rabone, Birmingham 1916 (stand base) and 1917, all others.
It measures 8 7/8" by 6 3/8" wide and 2 1/2" high and the stand weight is 318g/10.2ozt.
Condition is very good. A very small surface chip to the base of one well. No other damage and light surface wear appropriate for age and use. The wells have replacement clear glass liners but they fit well and are in good order.
