Flight Period Worcester Waisted Cup & Saucer Queen's Pattern

Flight Period Worcester Waisted Cup & Saucer Queen's Pattern

Code: FA0250

SOLD

Pretty early Worcester coffee cup and saucer in the Queen's pattern in an unusual waisted shape with pinched handle dating from the early Flight period, c.1790. The round saucer is deep and reflects the shape of the cup also. Beautifully decorated with alternating panels of cobalt blue with a white flower in red circle with gilded foliage and Japanese style floral sprays on a white ground in a kakiemon palette of red, green and turquoise.

Both pieces marked with a small crescent.

The cup measures 2 5/8" high, 2 5/8" wide and 3 1/2" rim to handle. The saucer is 5 1/2" wide and 1 1/4" high.

Condition is excellent, just a little rubbing to the gilt rim of the cup and a tiny nick to the foot. The decoration otherwise is bright with little wear.
