Very pretty Flight Barr & Barr period coffee cup & saucer, c.1820. Faceted shape with gilded gadrooned rims and shaped, pinched handle. Decorated in a Japanese style with an exotic pheasant in a large prunus tree painted in mazarine blue, red, orange and pink enamels and highlighted with gilding and further gilt detail picking out the shape of the handle. Unmarked.
The cup measures 7.3 cm (2 7/8") high, 8.5cm (3 5/8) rim to rim and 10.5cm (4 1/8") rim to handle. The saucer measures 15cm (6") wide and 2.8cm (1 1/16) high.
Condition is excellent with no damage or restoration. Surface wear is very light.
