Barr Period Worcester Porcelain Tea Cup & Saucer

Barr Period Worcester Porcelain Tea Cup & Saucer

Code: FA0955

SOLD

A fabulous Worcester porcelain tea cup and saucer, in bute shape with ring handle, late Barr period. A bold bright orange frieze leaving stylised trefoil leaves in white, heavily defined in gilt, connected by twining gilt tendrils. Double gilt bands framing the frieze, gilt rims and cup foot rim and the handle edged on both sides and with a gilt stripe down the back. Both with incised B mark to the base. These pieces were acquired with a few other pieces in this pattern with Barr, Flight & Barr marks so the date likely ties to the crossover period c.1804.

The saucer measures 14cm (5 1/2") wide and 2.8cm (1 1/8") high. The cup measures 6.2cm (2 7/16") high, 8.1cm (3 3/16") rim to rim and 10.7cm (4 1/4") rim to handle.

Condition is very good with no damage or restoration. Very light surface wear, just a bit of rubbing to the gilt band inside the saucer just inside the frieze and a few light scratches inside the base of the cup.
