First Period Worcester Porcelain Barrel Fluted Teapot c.1770

First Period Worcester Porcelain Barrel Fluted Teapot c.1770

Code: FA1314

SOLD

A Worcester porcelain barrel shaped teapot with fluted walls, ear shaped handle and ornate moulded spout with fluting and leaf shaped terminal. The cover has a raised scallop edged fluted middle reserve with flower bud knop. Painted bands of turquoise enamel reserving a chain link pattern edged in black enamel and framed with gilt also edged in black. Gilt highlights to the handle and spout, flower knop and a band around the bottom. Unmarked, c.1770.

It measures 11.5cm (4 1/2") high, 11cm (4 1/4") wide and 19cm (7 1/2") spout to handle.

In very good condition: the cover shows evidence of professional repair to a small area of the top side with some re-painting of the pattern but no issues at the actual rim or underside so I'm not sure exactly what has been done but it is small and been done very well. Some minor nibbles to the edge of the petals on the knop. No other damage or repair. Minor handling wear, a bit of rubbing to the gilt on the handle and around the rim of the spout.
