A lovely Worcester porcelain barrel shaped cream jug with sections of horizontal ribbing around the foot and rim. Printed with the "Early Peony Print", c.1758-1760, crescent mark to base.

Reference: Worcester Blue & White Porcelain, Branyan, French & Sandon, section II.C.4, described as "very rare". Careful observation of the markings and kiln dust spots it appears this jug is the actual one illustrated. We have not come across another documented example.

It measures 6.5cm (2 5/8") high, 8.5cm (3 3/8") spout to handle and 6cm (2 3/8") wide.

Condition is excellent; there is a small area of good restoration to the very tip of the spout but no other damage or repair. There is a small indent to the handle, caused during manufacture. A few kiln dust spots in the ribbing but not many. Handling wear is minimal.
